Head of Policy – Artificial Intelligence Policy Specialist

The company is a trade association focused on advancing responsible AI technologies. They provide expert guidance to policymakers, foster collaboration between innovators and legislators, and advocate for balanced regulatory frameworks that align political goals with technological advancements. 

They are looking for a Head of Policy to lead AI policy and lobbying efforts across the European Union. This role is ideal for an experienced policy professional passionate about innovation, ethical AI practices, and shaping the future regulatory environment. 

Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Drive strategic engagement with EU institutions, including the European Parliament, Commission, and Council, on AI legislative initiatives. 
  • Analyse and interpret policy developments, with a primary focus on the AI Act and related frameworks, providing updates and insights to stakeholders. 
  • Develop and execute policy strategies for EU AI regulations, offering guidance to internal teams and external partners. 
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with EU policymakers, advisors, and industry stakeholders. 
  • Lead outreach efforts to Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), particularly during critical vote days. 
  • Prepare policy briefings, draft position papers, and respond to consultations. 
  • Assist the Executive Director with daily operations, including team coordination and administrative responsibilities. 
  • Facilitate discussions between industry members and policymakers to ensure legislation balances innovation with ethical considerations. 

Expectations & Requirements: 

  • Education: Degree in Law, Economics, Politics, or a related field. 
  • Experience: At least 5 years in emerging technologies policy, with a focus on AI. 
  • Knowledge: 
  • Strong understanding of EU legislative processes and AI-related policy frameworks. 
  • Familiarity with UK and/or LATAM policy landscapes is an advantage. 

Skills: 

  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and communication abilities. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and culturally adaptable mindset. 
  • Languages: Fluency in English (mandatory); proficiency in additional EU languages is highly advantageous.

Additional Information: 

  • Experience Advantage: Prior work in EU institutions or public affairs is preferred. Embassy experience is a plus.
