  • A global financial services firm operating advanced trading platforms is seeking an experienced Market Risk Manager to join its U.S. office in the Chicago area. The firm offers a broad range of trading products, including OTC instruments, equities, and listed futures and options. Position Overview

  • The Market Risk Manager will play a key leadership role in overseeing daily market risk operations, managing risk staff, and ensuring the effective execution of margin processes and client activity monitoring. This role requires hands-on experience with commodity derivatives, risk models, and trading platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for identifying and mitigating market risk associated with client trading activity.
  • Supervise and mentor a small team of risk analysts.
  • Oversee issuance and follow-up of margin calls to clients and introducing brokers.
  • Manage pre-trade control settings and periodic system reviews across multiple trading platforms.
  • Monitor post-trade risk systems and escalate exceptions as appropriate.
  • Maintain firm-wide risk metrics and dashboards.
  • Act as PMO for market risk initiatives, ensuring timely project delivery and prioritization.
  • Provide risk reports and insights to senior leadership for internal and regulatory use.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in financial markets, with a focus on commodity derivatives, trading, and risk management.
  • Prior experience at a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) or broker/dealer is strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of exchange margin methodologies (e.g., SPAN, IRM, Prisma).
  • Familiarity with trading platforms such as T4, CQG, TT, or QST.
  • Advanced Excel and SQL skills for risk data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders.
